Kayak the pristine waters of Kachemak Bay
'The slower we go, the more we see' is our mantra when kayaking in the cove and island system of one of the world's richest marine ecosystems of its kind. Rick personally guides each tour. In 30 years of guiding, no one has ever tipped over. Because we are located in the most protected waters of the bay, our guests don't need any kayaking experience.
You will find your seaside adventure to be much more than paddling. Your day starts with a half hour scenic boat ride from the Homer harbor to our beach on Little Kayak Island at 9am. We size you up in your kayak and gear, do an orientation, and then paddle leisurely within the Herring Island system, exploring wildlife, scenery, and during low tides the spectacular inter-tidal zone along the way.
During lunch time on a beach, we serve you our complimentary signature seafood based hot lunch, which also includes eatable plants from the land and the sea we collect fresh with you. We carry a collection of artifacts that represent the rich history of the area to show you after lunch, before we paddle again for the rest of the afternoon. You then will be picked up by the water taxi and return to Homer around 5pm.
The $150 per person for the kayak tour includes your round trip water taxi from Homer, and the guided tour and kayak gear.
We can accommodate families with younger children because we are in such a protected area. We generally keep families with young children separate from adult parties, which disallows discounts for kids.
Larger exclusive group tours are available – please call or email us. You can call us for shorter tour requests, too.
